PakBirds ("we", "us", "our") operates the pakbirds.com marketplace, which connects buyers and sellers of pigeons, aseel, hens, parrots and other birds across Pakistan. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: your name, email address, phone number, city, and password (stored securely as a hash, never in plain text).
Listing content: photos, descriptions, prices, breed and pedigree details you post.
Communications: messages between buyers and sellers, offers, reviews, and support requests you send us.
Verification data: OTP codes sent to verify your phone number, and documents you submit for seller verification, including wildlife/breeder licenses submitted to obtain a Verified Dealer badge.
Delivery details: pickup/drop-off addresses when you use PakBirds Delivery.
Usage data: pages you visit, searches you make, listings you view or favorite, and device/browser information, used to personalize your experience.
Payment information: if you pay for featured listings, our payment partner processes card/wallet details directly — we do not store your full card number.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account, and verify your identity and phone number.
To operate the marketplace — publishing listings, connecting buyers with sellers, and processing delivery requests.
To personalize content, such as recommended listings based on your searches, category interests, and location.
To send transactional notifications (account approval, new messages, offers, delivery updates) and, where you've opted in, marketing emails about new listings and features.
To detect and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse, and to enforce our Terms of Service.
To improve our platform through aggregated, anonymized analytics.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these situations:

With other users: your name, city, and contact details (phone/WhatsApp) become visible to a buyer or seller only when you post a listing, send a message, or make/receive an offer.
With delivery partners: pickup and drop-off details are shared with our riders/cargo partners solely to complete a delivery you requested.
With service providers: SMS gateways (for OTP), payment processors (for featured-ad payments), and hosting/email providers who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
For legal reasons: if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of PakBirds, our users, or the public — including sharing listing and seller details with provincial wildlife authorities where a listing is reported or suspected to involve a protected or illegally-traded species.

4. Wildlife Law Compliance ⚖️

The trade of wild and protected bird species in Pakistan is regulated by provincial wildlife law. Where a seller submits a wildlife/breeder license to obtain a Verified Dealer badge, we retain that document to verify compliance and may share it, or details of a reported listing, with the relevant provincial wildlife department if legally required or requested. Sellers remain solely responsible for holding any license needed to trade a given species.

5. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your language preference, track recently viewed listings, and understand how the site is used. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features (like staying logged in) may not work properly.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and listing data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account at any time (see Section 8).

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted password storage, HTTPS encryption in transit, and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights & Choices

Access & update: you can view and edit your profile information at any time from your account settings.
Notification preferences: manage which email/SMS alerts you receive from your notification settings.
Account deletion: contact us to request permanent deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to any legal retention requirements.
Marketing opt-out: unsubscribe from promotional emails using the link in any marketing message we send.

9. Children's Privacy

PakBirds is not intended for use by individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. Third-Party Links

Our platform may contain links to third-party websites (e.g. social media, payment gateways). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites — please review their own privacy policies.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will post the updated version here with a revised "Last updated" date, and where changes are significant, we will notify you by email.
